Welcome to the Pluto Room
In our infant room, we care for babies ages 4 weeks to 18 months. Our trained and nurturing infant teachers focus on supporting each child's developmental milestones. Their priority each day is to create a unique and stimulating environment of play, music, and language repetition, which includes the use of stories, blocks, table toys, music, and outdoor activities.

Preparing Your Infant for Daycare
Starting daycare is a big transition for both infants and parents. This guide is designed to help families prepare their infant for a smooth, safe, and positive daycare experience
Before the First Day
Build a Routine at Home
-
Begin following a consistent daily routine (feeding, sleeping, playtime) similar to a daycare schedule.
-
Practice putting your infant down for naps at predictable times.
Please Note: Infants are on their own schedule and are cared for on an as-needed basis; however, as they get older, eat table foods, and nap less, they will start to follow the classroom schedule.
Practice Short Separations
-
Allow your baby to spend brief periods with trusted caregivers (family or friends) to help them adjust to being comforted by others.
Practice Bottle Feeding
-
If your baby is breastfed, introduce a bottle several weeks before daycare begins.
-
Have someone other than the breastfeeding parent offer the bottle when possible.
Practice Crib Sleeping at Home
-
Help your infant get used to sleeping in a crib before daycare begins.
-
Place your baby on their back for all sleep times, following safe sleep guidelines.
-
Use consistent sleep cues (dim lights, soft voice, short routine).
No Sleep Props
-
Avoid using swaddles (if the infant is able to roll over), pillows, blankets, or toys in the crib.
-
Practice sleeping without these items so your infant’s daycare sleep environment feels familiar.
Every infant adjusts at their own pace. With preparation, consistency, and teamwork between both parents and teachers, we hope to make the transition as smooth as possible.
Supply List
-
3 Bottles (to stay at the center, but can be taken home to be washed if preferred)

-
Diapers/Wipes (we have plenty of storage for large amounts)

2-3 Sets of Extra Clothes

Winter Gear (seasonal, for daily walks)

The center provides cribs and sheets for infants 4 weeks to 12 months. Once they turn 1, they will begin sleeping on a cot, so they will need a nap mat or sleeping bag. We highly recommend nap mats as they are easier to store and transport for weekly cleanings.

All personal items must be labeled such as water bottles, clothes, coats, etc. We highly recommend waterproof labels.
